Community Park & Recreation Plan Update

Saugatuck Public Schools, City of Saugatuck, City of the Village of Douglas and Saugatuck Township are working together to update the community’s 2002 Saugatuck/ Douglas Area Parks & Recreation Plan . The plan helps guide facility programming and funding decisions and makes the community eligible for various state funding programs. A 30 day public review process is needed to make the plan official along with a public hearing. The public review will take place from July 18 th through August 16 th . The public hearing will be August 18 th . There are several opportunities for the public to review the Parks and Recreation Plan:

A copy of the plan is available July 18 th through August 16th at Douglas City Hall , Saugatuck City Hall , Saugatuck Township Hall and the Saugatuck Public School Central Office Building .

Saugatuck Township Parks

River Bluff Park, located on Old Allegan Rd just past the I-196 expressway bridge.  Enjoy picknicking, a relaxing view of the river, or hike through the woods to the rivers edge.

 

Sundown Park, located on Lake Shore Dr south of the washout.  Cozy spot for viewing sunset.

 

Memorial Park, located on Blue Star Hwy just south of Spectators restaurant.  A great place for visitors to pull over and enjoy some lunch under a shelter with a grill available.

 

Tails 'n Trails Dog Park, located off of 134th Ave on the east side of I-196.  Area's only off-leash dog park.  You and your friendly pooch can come and play with other dogs or run around while you relax in the gazebo.
